Weekend Update

Friday night we went over to John and Mark's poolhouse for dinner (their main house was demolished last year and the new one has just been closed in.) Mark was showing off some 3D cad drawings of the new kitchen and other rooms. The usual strong cocktails were served, and one of their Cosmos was enough to sink me. At one point I looked up at the infrared heaters above us (we ate on the patio) and thought, "I'm a French fry!"

Saturday night we hosted qbear and rootbeer1 at Paul's house in Fremont; since excessor/Paul's moving his furniture and his sleeping to my house Saturday, this was the last opportunity for them to see his old house. Paul made jerked chicken, which is not postorgasmic as it sounds but marinated in a hot sauce and then grilled. It was delicious -- the best hot chicken I've ever had, anyway. For dessert he served an evil chocolate cake. Again the predinner cocktail and wine with dinner left me a bit wobbly.

Sunday I made salmon and Mexican vegetables for Paul at my place. An episode of The Simpsons and a viewing of the pilot for Jake in Progress, which looks like it will be fun -- smart writing, gay sensibility, Wendy Malick in a supporting role.

Nothing special, just C&W Southwest Blend -- frozen corn, black beans, peppers, etc. microwaved. My favorite veggies from the frozen bag area.

Yummy! I like those too. They also have a recipe on the bag for a great meatloaf that I've made lots of times (I use turkey meat instead of ground beef)...easy, no fuss, and so good.

For a "bag" recipe, it certainly is! I also use a little salsa on top of the meatloaf, for an extra kick, and presentation. Good stuff.
