Friday night we went over to John and Mark's poolhouse for dinner (their main house was demolished last year and the new one has just been closed in.) Mark was showing off some 3D cad drawings of the new kitchen and other rooms. The usual strong cocktails were served, and one of their Cosmos was enough to sink me. At one point I looked up at the infrared heaters above us (we ate on the patio) and thought, "I'm a French fry!"

Saturday night we hosted [livejournal.com profile] qbear and [livejournal.com profile] rootbeer1 at Paul's house in Fremont; since [livejournal.com profile] excessor/Paul's moving his furniture and his sleeping to my house Saturday, this was the last opportunity for them to see his old house. Paul made jerked chicken, which is not postorgasmic as it sounds but marinated in a hot sauce and then grilled. It was delicious -- the best hot chicken I've ever had, anyway. For dessert he served an evil chocolate cake. Again the predinner cocktail and wine with dinner left me a bit wobbly.

Sunday I made salmon and Mexican vegetables for Paul at my place. An episode of The Simpsons and a viewing of the pilot for Jake in Progress, which looks like it will be fun -- smart writing, gay sensibility, Wendy Malick in a supporting role.

Mexican vegetables? I'm curious....

Nothing special, just C&W Southwest Blend -- frozen corn, black beans, peppers, etc. microwaved. My favorite veggies from the frozen bag area.

Yummy! I like those too. They also have a recipe on the bag for a great meatloaf that I've made lots of times (I use turkey meat instead of ground beef)...easy, no fuss, and so good.

Sounds like you have the same problem I have. Does not take a lot of alcohol to become buzzed, wobbly in the knees. :-)

Strong drinks aside, sounded like a great weekend overall.

I think we're going to have to work on extending your alcohol tolerance: we'll have to drink regularly until it doesn't bother you any more. Then we can move to poppers, just to be well-rounded.

Dinner with [livejournal.com profile] qbear and [livejournal.com profile] rootbeer1 was as much fun as I'd envisioned and I'm glad we were able to make it happen.

Wendy Malick is one of my favorites. I always thought she and Karen (from Will & Grace) would get along well.

I would volunteer to be you guys' jerked chicken, except that I'm now too old for that. :-)

Chicken is a state of mind, not an age. Though you look awfully... experienced to be chicken. I'm sure we could be happy jerking you anyway! :-)

You could be happy and I could be grateful. And happy.

A jerked chicken is a happy chicken! I'm sure I heard that somewhere. Oh yeah, I was listening to myself say it! :-)

I'm shocked you would make such an image. Mountain View indeed! Everyone knows I'd write the Western States edition.

Aww, you're never too old. That's just what soft lighting is for.

What a lascivious cartoon! ... Not you, I meant your icon. :-)

For a "bag" recipe, it certainly is! I also use a little salsa on top of the meatloaf, for an extra kick, and presentation. Good stuff.
