The club had its first of three intro nights tonight. There weren't many student prospects and more than enough angels, so we had fun with it; one of my squares had no nondancers at all. Rich did well. Talked to Googler Bennet about the Google blog search rollout. He also reported Scott (of Scott & Cameron) was having his ups and downs. Fortunately, it seems Cameron got his estate plan docs done just in time -- I had felt guilty because I hadn't talked to him about it during Convention. It didn't even occur to me to ask Scott himself when he was over for dinner last week.

Here's the information on our upcoming intro nights and class in case any one out there is interested in joining the cult:

When you were you were in school, were you forced to square dance with a bunch of fun, gay, bisexual, and trans gender men and women?

...pity.

Get in on the fun you missed in school!

El Camino Reelers, a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Square Dance Club, is gearing up for our new square dance class in September. We'll be having three FREE introductory square dance sessions on Wednesday evenings, September 14th, 21st and 28th at 7:30PM in Palo Alto. Please join us. Have some fun, meet our club members, and try it out. Each session will be the same so come to one, two, or all three classes, and bring your friends.

Modern Western Square Dancing is not what you did in school. And the LGBT square dance community has added our own unique, high-energy style to an American tradition that has become popular all over the world.

-- Gay square dancing is a great way to make friends in a friendly and casual setting.
-- Everyone is welcome regardless of your gender preference or identity.
-- If you can walk, you can square dance. No previous dance experience is needed.
-- Casual street clothing is the normal attire.
-- Singles are welcome. You don't need a partner.
-- You can dance whichever role you want, boy or girl.
-- We dance to all kinds of music from hip hop to show tunes.
-- It's cooperative, fun, high-energy, and it's even great exercise.
-- And it's a lot cheaper than a movie.

Our instructor Rich Reel, with the help of the angels (experienced dancers), will have you up and dancing in no time. So come try it and see what the fun is all about. Gay Square Dancing -- it's the most fun you can have with seven other people standing up.

When: Wednesdays, September 14, 21, 28, from 7:30PM - 9:30PM

Where: Saint Andrews United Methodist Church
4111 Alma St in Palo Alto

Does Bennet work for Google? I should have known that but didn't. Please tell him hi from me, and also Scott if you see him. I've been thinking about him a lot lately.

Yup, after mucho years at Apple and then a variety of short-term things, he ended up at Google, which is scooping up all the free talent around here. I'll give them a feel from you. :)
