Repair, repair, repair

So yesterday I punted both the gym and ECR to find and fix the problems with the telephone wiring inside the house. Much fiddling with my new test toy, crawling under and over boxes and furniture to get to the outlets (about one in each room, or 12 in total), and getting rained on while working in the outside wiring box later, everything was fixed. We have 4 lines of wiring to each room, so the bundle of wires is large -- finding the short in one wire took about two hours, and it was luckily in one of the first places I looked. Switching the shorted segment to another pair for that part of its run fixed the problems, then I hooked up that circuit to the phone company's at the outside box, and dialtones happened.

Mike came over Tuesday to help me renovate the garden for summer. He doesn't have too much to do during the day since his injuries are preventing him from spending the usual gym time. It was nice to see him.

I have a phone jack in the bedroom that's been dead since I moved into this apartment over a year ago About a month ago or so, I did a little investigative work and patched in a jack by the desk to see if I get dial tone there (phone cable is snaked around the perimiter of the room from a phone jack by the hall in the living room, which is then strung along the baseboards to a jack in another corner, which then goes to the original wall jack location by the front door) I got no dial tone so me thingsk it's prolly in the closet where it's been snaked.

Still have to pull all the crap out and deal with it though.

At least you have a POTS tester, I don't.
