Well, not really. I was out trimming the shrubbery today and took a handsaw to a particularly woody branch. It was awkward and when the saw slipped and cut into the first joint of my thumb, I had only myself to blame... after quickly running to the nearest sink to wash it, I wrapped it in a napkin and stopped the bleeding with pressure, then applied a bandage. Next ten minutes went to cleaning up the trail of blood along the way from the garage to the kitchen.

It later occurred to me that I almost had the raw material (so to speak) for a copycat "there's a digit in my soup" scam. But I guess it's too obvious just now -- my dreams of undeserved wealth will have to wait.

This is after last week's "plague," some sort of intestinal virus which shut down my entire digestive system for a day and gave me an advance look at what it will feel like to be 80 with Alzheimer's and just about ready to give up on the whole damn thing.

I'm not commenting much or writing in my journal for two reasons -- lack of time, since I'm spending every free minute on house stuff and getting things set up for our new living arrangement; and lack of events or subjects to write about, since the details of, for example, shopping for insurance coverage, cardboard box recycling in Sunnyvale, and my nonattendance at most social events are unlikely to be of interest to anyone.

Work gloves

Recently I did a nifty job slicing my finger while doing yard work with a hand trimmer. I quickly resolved that it is imperative to glove the non-utensil bearing hand. Do tell about that insurance shopping spree...

I really have no excuses -- I have tough leather gloves just for that reason. I was careless... and the insurance post is gestating.

Ow.

I hope things settle down a bit soon! Setting up a house can be fun, but the rest of it doesn't sound like the good kind of exciting.
