Drudge Report has an item on Chechen terrorists who supposedly entered the US through Mexico and are preparing for a pre-election operation. Meanwhile, the Feds have sent out a security alert suggesting the likelihood of something on the scale of 9/11 in the same timeframe, and one (possibly unreliable) Congressman has closed his Washington office and evacuated the area.

I've laid in a supply of 3-M masks for the upcoming flu epidemic. I couldn't find my American Express Blue card today, and I felt a deep sense of wrongness with the world. The earthquake insurance is paid up, but can we rely on Geovera Insurance to actually pay in the event of The Big One? Could someone tell me why we now pay twice as much for airport security and the new, hyper-professional, highly-paid government employees now fail to find dangerous items at essentially the same rate as the low-paid Philippinos who used to do it? What are those former employees doing now? Why is it impossible for a political system to resolve the storage of nuclear waste?

I read the Gertz article upon which the Drudge announcement is based. It's unconvincing like most of Gertz's work. The story is probably meant to drum up fear among the electorate so they'll vote for Bush. The Times is owned by the reverend Moon I think.

That particular report sounds unlikely -- which is not my possibly-too-subtle point. :-)

I hope you're feeling better. Always have a good hunk of protein with breakfast, even if it's just a powdered mix.

I see where your getting at. I also see you are being rhetorical as well, ie, toungue planted firmly in cheek. :-)

Questions by the Moody Blues comes to mind with this post.
