ECR Class

Good class night tonight at ECR. [livejournal.com profile] fuzzygruf looked fully recovered, and [livejournal.com profile] handlebear showed me his scar from brain surgery -- eek. Plenty of screwups by angels, including me -- I kept changing from girl to boy, which is a challenge, and new call explanations usually leave me less able to do the call as I start thinking about it too much.

[livejournal.com profile] excessor had some bad news -- the house he and his partner own in Palm Springs has been rented for the weekend we planned to go, so we'll have to put that off. I am wanting to scope out the town (I've only been there once) as a possible retirement site. Negatives: the horrifying heat in summer; positives: it's a lot cheaper to live there, and there's a gay presence almost as overwhelming as the Castro. And at this time of year, of course, it's way less gloomy than here. Since I spend most of my time on the Net or in the gym, I really have no practical reason to stay in the Bay Area.

I lived 50 miles from Palm Springs until 1996. It is very very hot in the summertime. Think 120-125. Even if you have a pool, there are days you can only stay inside with the air conditioner (heaven help you if THAT breaks!) I personally could not live there year round.

I stay inside most of the time during winter up here. Not a big difference, assuming AC. I sure dislike heat, and I'm not a big sun fan [my skin isn't suited to it, even though I'm not a pure redhead]. I may never move, but I just want to check it out -- I'm feeling a bit alienated from the Bay Area, I'm cold, and I might see more of my friends as visitors than I do here!

I might visit if I get an invitation.

And you are always welcome to visit.
