Greg Sauers, PA, moves on; and Bloodwork
Oct. 27th, 2009 07:40 pmWent to the doctor yesterday to discuss bloodwork and set up a CT scan for the holidays (don't ask.) Greg looked tired and told me he was changing to the Optimus medical group, inconveniently located (for me) on Market near 4th. Drat -- just did the work of transferring files and setting up the relationship. Not sure what to do.
The numbers of interest:
BUN: 29, (normal < 25) - I eat a bit more protein than my kidneys like.
Total Cholesterol: 146 (< 200 is good)
HDL Cholesterol: 40 (> 40 is good) - usually I fail this one slightly
LDL Cholesterol: 95 (< 100 is good)
VLDL: 11 (< 30 is good)
Triglycerides: 55 (< 150 is good)
All in all, decent and protective against heart disease, which kills most of my male relatives in their 50s. No need for nasty drugs to control blood pressure or cholesterol (attention
zzbear.)
Not that hard: 1.5 hours a day of weightlifting and cardio exercise, constant walking up steep hills, a diet rich in salmon and fiber, and supplements ranging from fish oil to Vitamin D to resveratrol....
