Spiffy. Apple has usually been the first to jettison bulky storage formats, and the just-announced Macbook Air dumps (in its more-desirable and more-expensive flash disk form) both hard and optical disks, which lets it fit into a case that's only 3/4" wide at its widest.

I considered taking Caltrain up to visit the exhibit hall, but decided it wasn't worth my time. [livejournal.com profile] excessor helpfully pointed out I'm missing a great display of geekish manly goodness, but I can only take crowd scenes for a few hours and I'd be spending a whole day on it, which didn't seem worth it. I was a Mac fanboy in 1984 when I interviewed with them at MIT, and they gave me their only Mac poster as a sort of consolation prize since they couldn't hire me for lack of a Masters.

My 8-core Mac Pro is in shipping limbo somewhere.

1) Eating good food is a pleasure of the flesh
2) Everyone knows I'm a big tease
3) The number of people who want me to come up there more often for even fleshier fleshly pleasures is pretty large. My native laziness (not to mention glares from [livejournal.com profile] excessor) saves me.
