I don't really mean no memes. But it was nice when less than half the posts on my friends list were inane repeats of "you are..." with the same three or four pictures. Unless it's accompanied by some fun and/or insightful stuff written by the poster.
Memes are actually useful when they act to catalyze your own writing. It'd be better if people didn't overuse them, but like "water your lawn every other week" any simple rule is too rigid. I was just being provocative. :)
As you point out, No-memes are themselves memes, or meta-memes. I think I'm starting to smoke like one of those Star Trek computers confronted with a paradox.

A well used example of a meme is the first four notes of Beethoven's 5th symphony. Another example is the "Happy Birthday" song. These are ideas that inhabit our minds and have been very successful at replicating. Not only have these memes found their way into literally millions of minds, they have also managed to leave copies of themselves on paper, in books, on audiotape, on compact disks, and in computer hard-drives.

You could always start your own no-meme meme ... maybe something like "Monday is for Memes" or "Meme Only on Monday"?
(Monday's not the best day for it, but the alliteration might help it catch on.)
