I lose! Go me!
May. 31st, 2004 10:09 pmWhen it appeared there were not enough candidates for ECR board, I was happy to be invited to run. I know I am not particularly well-suited to office -- I'm the original "Mr. Inside," better at advising behind the scenes than dealing with large numbers of people -- but since I seemed to be needed and the current board had recruited me, it looked like a good idea.
Well, a few missteps later, there were four candidates for three positions, and each of the three other candidates were attractive for good reasons. The board needed a woman, someone experienced in nonprofit work, and a well-known and popular dancer who has been a club member for a long time; it seemed likely I would be odd man out, and so it came to pass.
I'd like to thank all the little people who voted for me... :-)
I would really be hurt if I had campaigned for the office, but I'm secretly happy not to be on the hook for the many meetings and default responsibilities of a board member.
