No drinkies on Friday, so we stayed home and had a pleasant evening. Saturday we went up to the city for the LJ Convergence; not too much to report, though I did meet
citycraig with the striking cornflower-blue eyes and talked to victim of the Spanish crime wave
double_ohsteven. My spicy nut pilaf was only half-eaten, so we had leftovers.

After we left, we walked down to the Castro and got coffee at Starbears. Nice amenity to have in one's neighborhood -- hang out and meet your neighbors, something which just doesn't happen in the 'burbs. Noted one guy who looked exactly like
otterpop58 will probably look 15 years from now -- still hot, just slowing down a bit. Wandered around the Castro some more, dropped into Worn Out West and coveted the leather goods, dropped into some stores.
excessor was faintly incensed to discover lube at about half the price he last paid. I was amazed that old suitemate Jose's name was plastered all over the streets as he runs for Treasurer.
Sunday we went over to Mark and John's for an afternoon of sitting around talking with them and their guests Brent and Jay, an interesting couple who relocated from Laguna to Austin recently. They visit regularly to see the two children (now 8 and 10, I think) Jay fathered with a lesbian couple who live in the city. The kids were running around playing fantasy games most of the time we talked, periodically coming over to ask Daddy to play with them. Sweet to see, but their relationship with the moms isn't always easy. After Brent and Jay left, we were honored to be the first dinner guests in their new house. It was amusing to see them struggling with the complex lighting controls and trying to get the HDTV to play an episode of CSI-Miami recorded by their HD-DVR provided by Comcast. After a few minutes of fumbling, we enjoyed watching David Caruso's pores flex as he bullied the murderer into confession a la Perry Mason.
