yeah, I was engaging in stereotyping, only a little bit true. It's a younger person's music, and you can't tell by just the goth attributes or studded leather belts whether they like the music that goes with it. I think it's fair to say it's more popular with the disaffected, who might be rich kids in the 'burbs, but not usually.
The Mtn View Golds has huge speakers hung everywhere and can play what they play at incredible, injure-your-ear volume when the kids behind the counter feel like it. I think there have been more complaints about it as the clientele has gradualy gotten older and less blue-collar, this the recent softpedaling of metal. I suspect that like most gyms they are trying to make it a more welcoming environment for women...
No music would be fine, then people wouldn't find it hard to hear their own music over the gym's!
