Last night we went to Sundance for our second 2-step class. I was a bit dubious because three days ago I had bruised one heel fairly badly, apparently by running at an 8 mph pace for 10 minutes on the treadmill; I've been gradually getting my running endurance back, and this was a bit too intense for the soft tissue on the bottom of my feet just in front of my heel. I hobbled around for several days, but by yesterday it wasn't too bad, so off we went.

Ran into Dave G immediately -- it's a wonder such a sweet, intelligent, terrific man hasn't been scooped up by somebody. Not only is he handsome, he has patents. This makes him a high-order stud, but then I'm a geek. I'm no Xerox-PARC fanboy (since I worked at an Eastern rival), but he's the real thing. Also ran into [livejournal.com profile] redbackfur, who danced with [livejournal.com profile] excessor for a bit. He has the furriest arms in town!

This time we had to swap partners at several points, and the first lead I ended up with was frighteningly handsome. It made it very hard to concentrate on the mantra "slow, slow, quick-quick." As in square dancing, you don't get much chance to actually talk to people when you're learning. But clearly there are superficial rewards to joining this community.

We watched some shuffle (Texas 2-step) instruction, but it seemed unwise to participate since it would add confusion at this stage. We left after the line dance class started, since it was getting hard to stand up on the by-now-aching heel. Dinner was some superb Thai at Thai Basil on Murphy Avenue in Sunnyvale.

Moving to SF isn't just the latest craze? Will you sell your condo or lease it?

You never, ever, ever want to keep a rental unit 100s of miles away from where you live. Truly.

That's why I am selling versus having a rental unit when I move. No one likes an absenteee landlord, regardless of the management company.

Just remember that food, gasoline, gas, electricity and such are all higher here than in Boise.
