Living Will, etc.

I'm updating the estate plan, which reminds me to do this PSA:

Please, people, if you haven't designated someone to make deicisons for you in case of medical emergency or incapacity, please read this and follow the link to a form for your state. If you don't, you could have legislators contending over the shell which used to be you like poor Terri Schiavo, pawn in an emotional battle between hope and reality.

Go here for information -- it's simple!

[Edit: I'm informed the Patrnership for Caring link at Lambda Legal doesn't work at the moment. Here's a direct link to California's form: http://www.templecommunityhospital.com/advance1.pdf. You can find other state forms easily by Googling.]

I suspect that if Schiavo were an out and proud lesbian, Bill Frist and Tom DeLay wouldn't lift a finger. But true. I've got to do this.

This is absolutely critical and key information. Thanks for posting a reminder, particularly in light of the embarassing and inappropriate interference by congress in the Schiavo case. Hugs!

Thanks Curtis for this reminder.

While a Jaycee a few years ago, I began to make one at the Seattle Jaycee office and never got it finished.

Knowing the Schiavo case, it's about time I did just that.
