Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
At the gym, Scooby and Scott were complaining about a narrow-waisted, broad-shouldered fellow -- seems he made them feel bad because he had added 15 lbs. to his frame in 6 months. Now this complaining comes from Scooby (6'2", 240 lbs., close to perfect heavily-muscled physique) and Scott (basically my size and shape.) Scott further complained that he was stuck between 170 and 175 and all of his relatives didn't vary a lb. into their 60s. I warned him he'd be punched out by many people if he continued to whine about his "problem." :-)

excessor was around though we didn't work out together; he then headed up to the City for the Foggy City dance.
Back at home, Mike and I had a huge salmon dinner and then made haste to Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The review in the link is pretty accurate -- ground-breaking, beautiful graphics and stylish design, mostly wooden dialogue and a vague sense of disengagement. It wanted to be irreverent fun like a Raiders of the Lost Ark (and it was full of homages to Star Wars) but the casting was weak (both Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow are simply too pretty to be taken seriously as tough cookies who save the world) and the funny bits few and far between. As a fantasy of what the readers of 1920s science fiction thought the world would be like by 1935 it was gorgeous; as an action/adventure it limped. But it didn't feel like wasted time.

As for Scott—yes, I'm sure he's having a horrible time with those startling, speckled blue eyes and handsome smile. And you were right to warn him. Had I known he was bitching about not being able to gain a pound, I'd have knee-capped him.
The movie sounds interesting enough to go see.
