Endless no-win situations
Sep. 14th, 2009 07:03 pmI do not recommend going through your whole day with Mick Jagger singing "Wild Horses" in your ear. Damn earworm, terribly depressing. I blame
sgtchuck.
My mom called. She says the computer isn't working. Have you tried turning it on, I respond. Apparently a power outage took it out of its normal sleep state. Ten minutes coaching her to find the power button at the back of the Mac Mini. Finally we hear the startup chime. Nothing on screen. Have her punch all the buttons on the monitor in case it's not on. Nothing. Give up.
Last night an old leak we thought was fixed opened up in the master bedroom; I see about a quart of muddy water in the catch bucket. The hallway leak was never entirely fixed, either. Got no response to my email of two weeks ago pointing out the leak was never completely fixed, since we saw leakage after the last (multi-day, quite expensive) slate deck repair. The poor lady at the management company can't do anything but pass along my emails. I'd like to move but certain things haven't been decided as yet, and it's a great hassle, and expensive. I'm tired of dealing with everything.
At the gym, waited for a machine while three different people used it; every time I'd head over someone would grab it. Or stand up and look around next to the machine, and by the time their intention was clear it was too late to get there. Then I waited 20 minutes for a treadmill. Must start going at 2 instead of 3:30... at least Matt of "woink-woink!" fame smiled at me; we hate him. Also talked to Joe A for a minute.
I feel an urge to get to work and stop gathering material. But it seems everything conspires to get in the way, and nothing is ever settled.
