Phoenix Square Dance Convention Gallery

We returned from Phoenix today around 1 PM on the same flight as [livejournal.com profile] nanocub and [livejournal.com profile] handlebear. Two hours later I was doing my usual workout at the gym, so I haven't fully unpacked yet. Our housesitting guest, Eric, flew in from Sydney just as we left, but he was still here to greet us when we pulled up to the house. It's always nice getting back home after a long trip.

I have many tales to tell about the convention, but the first thing I did was download the pictures off the camera and do a gallery. We spent a lot of time with [livejournal.com profile] excessor and saw [livejournal.com profile] handlebear and [livejournal.com profile] nanocub fairly often, but [livejournal.com profile] fuzzygruf and [livejournal.com profile] double_ohsteven danced a lot and mostly at Advanced and above, so we didn't see them much. This was [livejournal.com profile] tardis' first convention, and he seemed to be enjoying himself.

Pictures of people actually dancing tend to be difficult to take, since the low light conditions and movement limit the camera. Even crisp shots really don't give you any sense of the movement and the patterns forming and reforming in the square. Any of you wondering will just have to come square dance with us or another IAGSDC club. And no, we don't usually dance in leather or naked as occurs at the convention, but it's fun once in awhile.

More entries tomorrow as time allows.

My pictures didn't turn out nearly as well! I'm smiling just looking through them again. It was a fun weekend and I look forward to doing it again.

I took 120 or so, and edited down to 50 or so for the gallery. You can afford to take a zillion digital pictures under unpromising conditions because a few of them will turn out. Indoors, no camera with attached flash does well, which is why I prefer to use available light.

One of the reasons we had more fun than usual this year was *you*, of course. You make everythng fun. :-)

Actually, I was sort of embarrassed that I was so clingy. I tend to charge straight ahead and not really notice that I might be wearing out my welcome. But I love hanging out with you two and it's not like you were avoiding me…

Great set of pics! Looked like everyone had a wonderful time.

Looked like great weather too (even if HOT).

"It's a dry heat"

It was really bad between noon and 6 (highs around 106) but with pools and AC'd spaces to duck into, it was not a problem. And of course the heat is the reason we were able to get space in such a fabulous resort at a reasonable price.

Ah... Well, that makes sense. :-)

Ooh! Thanks so much for the pictures! I wasn't able to attend this year, so I'm closely following the stories and pictures people are posting.

Thanks again!

We (royal we) aim to please. :-) Too bad you missed it, I'd say the fun level was as good as any convention ever. And I do love my "Crack the Crab" tanktop...

After the first few pictures of "Curtis", I said to myself "Geez... this guy looks just like Dr_Scott." (Please don't think I'm an idiot :-)

I've tried posting pics of myself with captions in the 3rd-person, but it feels weird.

I was thinking of myself as presenting on behalf of both myself and Mike, so I label things in thrid person, since the picture database is shared. Not that I always do it consistently, but you know what they say about consistency...

Those are great pics and you really look great for the leather tip! I wish I had been able to go, but finances weren't in order this year (hotel+airfare+convention+food = too much for 2004).
