More nostalgia - 1975

The slide scanner will be fun.

In 1974 I trooped off to MIT to study Physics -- or so I thought. I ended up living in one of the newer dorms on a floor of 12 freshman -- the undergrads had all moved to upper floors to leave the whole floor to us.

Here's a slide show with a little commentary on what happened to each of us. I did this for our 25th reunion last year. One of the semi-famous guys is George Woltman, who started the Mersenne prime number finding project which uses distributed PC computing power, the first one of its kind. I suppose this is most interesting as a display of how geeky you can look and still come out okay!

Is it bad karma to cruise old pictures? I think I'm in love with Jose C*******. Latin men have a way about them. I think it's their eyes.

It's fun to see pictures from this time. The hairstyles say a lot--these could be images from the time of my high school graduation in 1979. It's painful and fun at the same time. Mostly painful.

And that certain *********** —so fresh, so innocent, so malleable. I'll be he was a total honey.

Jose is around -- I missed his housewarming in August. His partner may be annoyed if you look into his eyes too much. Also, he's [unlike present company] aged a bit... :-)

Oops! Sorry about that. Since you included full names in the linked website, I assumed that it was ok to use those here in native LJ land. I'll fix it.

Aging is in the eyes of the beholder. And remember, it's not the years, it's the mileage. Of course, some of us have been over bumpier terrain than others. But I'm not naming names.

The reason why I don't mind naming a few names on my website is that it's protected from robots (aka spiders), so they won't appear in a Google or other search. LJ is not so protected unless one has checked that box in your userinfo, so it's probably okay for real names to appear in my journal (as long as the references aren't insulting or offensive!), but the information might inadvertantly leak and be visible on someone else's. And if a search finds a page about young Jose, no problem, since there are no links to any "sensitive" material from there. My sites are not organized as a tree.
