Spiffy. Apple has usually been the first to jettison bulky storage formats, and the just-announced Macbook Air dumps (in its more-desirable and more-expensive flash disk form) both hard and optical disks, which lets it fit into a case that's only 3/4" wide at its widest.

I considered taking Caltrain up to visit the exhibit hall, but decided it wasn't worth my time. [livejournal.com profile] excessor helpfully pointed out I'm missing a great display of geekish manly goodness, but I can only take crowd scenes for a few hours and I'd be spending a whole day on it, which didn't seem worth it. I was a Mac fanboy in 1984 when I interviewed with them at MIT, and they gave me their only Mac poster as a sort of consolation prize since they couldn't hire me for lack of a Masters.

My 8-core Mac Pro is in shipping limbo somewhere.
