Weather's been interesting. Yesterday I was typing away when I heard clicking sounds from the window. It got louder and louder; I could see little ice bits bouncing off the ground. Sleet!

It snowed down to 1000' levels, with sleet below in amounts large enough to build small snowmen. It's a once-in-a-decade occurrence, happening because a huge mass of Alaskan air swirled down as far as Southern California, when it usually stops in the Puget Sound area this time of year. So it's been cold and blustery (highs in the 50s, winds gusty). Heavy rain had earlier been predicted for today, so we planned to go up to the city tomorrow to get the dresser Paul bought to match his bed ("Bedzilla" -- a California King, which as it turns out will be very useful...) when we happened on the "lost our lease" sale during IBR.

This morning I realized that it was sunny and checked the Doppler radars. No rain visible for at least two hours. So we ran over to Mike's to borrow his pickup truck and headed up for the city. It turn out to be a beautiful day, with a huge cloud-free space over the Bay and enough sun to make it seem warm. The surrounding mountains had a lovely blanket of snow, with Mt. Diablo and Mt. Hamilton looming over the Bay. We got to the furniture store before noon, they loaded the dresser into the pickup bed, and we returned by 1 PM for a late lunch. Mission accomplished, and just in time, since the rain is supposed to return tonight. Paul will have the fun of cleaning up and disposing of his old dresser (a white lacquered thing which doesn't match anything else.)

Then it was off to the gym for a major leg press extravaganza. I think Paul plans to write it up, so I'll refrain from repeating the effort.

The one-year anniversary of Paul's moving in is next week. I'm way too lucky.
