Miscellany

Sunday Mike went off to help a friend landscape his backyard, so I was free to go to the South Bay Bears beer bust at the King of Clubs, which turned out ot be nicer inside than I expected. Small dance floor, good music, but nobody dancing, and it never really reached critical mass, but there were some nice folks to talk to - you know who you are!

One creepy blast-from-the-past -- I was in the bathroom when I overheard one guy talking to another:

guy1: "So, do you have a partner?"
guy2: "Yes."
guy1: "So do you, like, fool around?"
guy2: "Not really..."
guy1: "Do you guys do three or foursomes?"
guy2: "No, we really wouldn't be interested in that..."

I had avoided meeting the eyes of this aggressive loser, who I'm pretty sure was a bar regular and not an SBB member, but he later came up to me despite my studiously ignoring him and tried the same dialog. Took awhile to get away. No showers nearby, alas.

I don't have anything against a direct approach, mind you, but when you've ignored every nonverbal signal to stay away known to man, it's just creepy.

Later had a nice Indian dinner with [livejournal.com profile] excessor and felt better. Next Sunday, I'll try the Lone Star again....

Weather: a few days of dreary mornings really gets me down. I hope this last storm was the last of the season -- I get tired of scooping pine needles out of the pool and the sooner the oxalis has its seasonal dieoff, the better. We need to have an early pool party or something. I'm totally pale and my blond hair is all gone after months of no sun exposure.

Election: looks like almost everything went the way I voted. Average Californians vote rather like I do, at least on fiscal issues.

We're craving the sun, too ... I feel like an albino.

Not that albinos crave the sun ... I'm just feeling pale and cooped up.

One of our advantages down here in the sticks -- more sun sooner. No fog. And our own Castro Street (Mountain View) -- not so gay, but not bad....

You must have left early. Later everybody was dancing with their shirts off.

moi?

I don't know why you don't like my new boyfriend. You're just not trying.

Dinner was terrific. We'll have to hit some more Indian restaurants.

I'm funny that way. If he'd told me you were number 3 in the proposed threesome, I would have course been much more interested. [rolls eyes]

And I believe you.
