Bioethics panel stacking
Following on the deeply wrongheaded stem cell research decision, the Bush administration is further stacking its bioethics panel:

Kerry tries to have it both ways, as usual. But the Bush administration is doing a fine job of alienating any free-market, small-government people left on its side in recent weeks.
I usually don't do political posts, but these attempts to foreclose the future to kowtow to religious ignoramuses are not as well-publicized as they should be.

I couldn't agree more. The U.S. is rapidly becoming a laughingstock to the rest of the world in scientific endeavors as puritanical nutcases do their best to dilute funding and pollute real science with moralistic aims and creationist views. It's sad that too many people who might not be knowledgeable in scientific fields go ahead and agree with what the current government is doing or worse yet, choose to ignore it entirely.
